Mankind has been extracting oil for many years. How is it formed? Will it ever be exhausted?
The Earth we live on is rich in various resources. It is by utilizing these resources that human life has reached its current level. Otherwise, how could humans start cars? How could rockets be launched into space? All of this can be attributed to the Earth's resources. The resource we're focusing on here is oil. Many people may not have paid much attention to it, but haven't they ever wondered: how exactly is it formed?

The Earth we live on is rich in various resources. It is by utilizing these resources that human life has reached its current level. Otherwise, how could humans start cars? How could rockets be launched into space? All of this can be attributed to the Earth's resources. The resource we're focusing on here is oil. Many people may not have paid much attention to it, but haven't they ever wondered: how exactly is it formed?

In fact, no scientist has yet provided a definitive conclusion to this question. The theories about its formation are mostly speculative, and the widely accepted one is that oil is formed from fossilized organisms. Many people are well aware that there are numerous fossils on Earth—these are the remains of ancient organisms that, after years of weathering, have taken their current form.

Fossils undergo a series of changes: over time, they mix with sediment, gradually settle, and eventually form sedimentary rocks. This is what oil was like in its early stages. Some may find this strange, as oil is typically thought of as a liquid rather than a solid. That's a valid observation, but these rocks eventually transform into a liquid state. However, it's important to note that these are just scientists' inferences, and with current human technology, we cannot yet prove this conclusively.

Some scientists, however, have put forward opposing views. They believe that oil is formed from carbon, as the underground contains not only fossils but also abundant carbon elements. Under the high temperatures deep within the Earth, these elements naturally change their form and form oil. Oil has long been a resource used worldwide, but many people wonder: why hasn't it been exhausted after all these years?

As many people know, oil formation takes an extremely long time. So, despite the fact that large-scale human extraction can still meet our needs for now, there will eventually come a day when it runs out. Moreover, extraction will become increasingly difficult over time. However, there is some good news: as long as the raw materials for oil formation exist, oil can be regenerated—it just takes a certain amount of time.
