Hydraulic power tongs are one of the flagship products of Shichuang Petroleum Machinery Co., Ltd., and they have been attracting increasing attention in the machinery industry.

Hydraulic power tongs are part of the hydraulic system family. Hydraulic systems already have many advantages in today's market and are widely applied to various types of machinery. However, improper usage and maintenance can lead to various faults, thereby affecting production. Correct usage and maintenance not only extend the service life of the system but also ensure stable, sensitive, and reliable operation. Below is a brief introduction to the maintenance methods for hydraulic power tongs:

Before starting work, check whether all fastening screws are loose. If any are loose, they must be tightened.

After each handling, clean the main tong and backup tong heads with kerosene or diesel, and inject grease into all grease nipples of the machine body.

After cleaning the tong head of the hydraulic power tong, apply grease to the jaw plates, jaw plate frames, and the teeth of the opening gear.

If the jaw plates of the hydraulic power tong do not extend due to insufficient braking force, it is necessary to adjust and tighten the braking pressure by slightly tightening each bolt with holes. Note that over-tightening should be avoided to prevent overheating of the friction plates.

After each use of the hydraulic power tong, inspect the tong body. If there is accumulated water, oil sludge, or other dirt, it must be removed promptly.

Do not clean the tongs with steam, to prevent oil loss and water ingress in various bearings, which may cause damage to components.

The temperature of the hydraulic oil in the hydraulic power tong must not exceed 65℃, as overheating will cause the seals of the hydraulic system to fail.

The hydraulic oil must be kept clean, and the oil filter must function normally for oil filtration. If the oil is contaminated, it needs to be replaced in a timely manner.

There are strict requirements for the selection of hydraulic oil:

a. YC-N46 low-freezing hydraulic oil, suitable for ambient temperatures of -20℃ to +40℃.

b. YB-N46 anti-wear hydraulic oil, suitable for ambient temperatures of -10℃ to +40℃.

c. YA-N46 ordinary hydraulic oil, suitable for ambient temperatures of 0℃ to +40℃.
