Hydraulic power tongs are part of the hydraulic system family. Hydraulic systems now have many advantages in the market and are applied to various types of machinery. However, improper usage and maintenance can lead to various faults, thus affecting production. Correct usage and maintenance not only help extend the service life of the system but also ensure stable, sensitive, and reliable operation.

1.Before starting work, check whether all fastening screws are loose. If any are loose, tighten them.

2.After each handling, clean the heads of the main tong and backup tong with kerosene or diesel, and inject grease into all grease nipples of the machine body.

3.After cleaning the tong head of the hydraulic power tong, apply grease to the jaw plates, jaw plate frames, and the teeth of the opening gear.

4.If the jaw plates of the hydraulic power tong fail to extend due to insufficient braking force, it is necessary to adjust and tighten the braking pressure by slightly tightening each bolt with holes. Note that over-tightening should be avoided to prevent overheating of the friction plates.

5.After each use of the hydraulic power tong, inspect the tong body. If there is accumulated water, oil sludge, or other dirt, remove them promptly.

6.Do not clean the tongs with steam, to prevent oil loss and water ingress in various bearings, which may cause damage to components.

7.The temperature of the hydraulic oil in the hydraulic power tong must not exceed 65℃; overheating will cause the seals of the hydraulic system to fail.

8.Keep the hydraulic oil clean and ensure the oil filter functions normally for oil filtration. If the oil is contaminated, replace it in a timely manner.
